Story Behind the Art:
I became interested because this beautiful textile tradition is in danger of disappearing and I'd like to leave a legacy with what I create. My name is Luis Lopez Cordon and I was born in Guatemala in 1974. I'm an entrepreneurial and enthusiastic person who is passionate about quality and good service. I've always liked being active and creating things. I make uniforms, bags, backpacks and much more in my workshop.I think that when God gives someone big dreams, he's in charge of opening doors and placing the right people in their path - people who will work hard to get results and realize those dreams. Based on principles and values like perseverance, faith and integrity, I was able to begin this venture around 2015. A lot has happened these past few years. My mother died and I had difficulties when I started with my workshop. Despite everything, my faith in Christ has sustained me and his mercy has gotten me this far.
I create apparel and accessories made from Guatemala's traditional handwoven fabrics. I became interested because this beautiful textile tradition is in danger of disappearing and I'd like to leave a legacy with what I create. I'd also like to keep fighting tirelessly for this artisan culture so that our textile traditions are never lost. Making apparel helps create many jobs - from weaving the fabrics to sewing the clothes. It's a big challenge to create a high quality piece, but it's a goal I strive to achieve daily. I love it when shoppers are happy with my designs. Another challenge I face is to create a positive environment for everyone in the workshop. We offer opportunities to people who aren't hired by other workshops or companies because of their age. We seek to create a culture of quality and develop excellent relationships with our customers to have sustainable growth. I also want to contribute to our community by creating jobs and making Guatemalan textile arts known internationally.
